Wind In My Hair

These photos, they were taken in such a whim that I feel almost embarrassed to put them up. Mr M and I only had a few minutes to take them when the wind started picking up. Well let’s just pretend that I’m Margaret Zhang of Shine By Three rocking the wet hair look (except that my hair was bone dry and dancing schizophrenically in the wind). I had a hard time pacifying those crazy strands and the bulky materials on my body but there was nothing that we could do at that time. Nevertheless I really enjoyed wearing the outfit because I felt so cosy in it. Finally the weather in Sydney was cold enough to warrant the play with layers without breaking out into a sweat in the middle of the day.

The skirt that I was wearing was a recent purchase of mine from MinkPink and I just loved the very flattering A-lined shape and the contrast of fabrics. The mix of pleather and suede was so fun and texturally interesting. I haven’t played with suede all that much in the past but I’m hoping to discover more suede pieces to add to my wardrobe for the upcoming season just to spice things up a little. Suede is a super lush and luxurious material to experiment with.

In other news, I went for my first bridal gown fitting yesterday. I wasn’t sure what to expect to be honest. One thing though was that when I saw the toile/calico on the mannequin, I was utterly delighted. The design was still very much in progress but I was really happy and glad about the base structure. I know that this gown will be really really special. Not only will it be one of a kind, I’m also very much participating in the making process. I also made to decision to place a whole load of trust on my designer for a couple of reasons. Firstly she’s really experienced and awesome and secondly, making this decision will take a heap of stress off my shoulders. There isn’t time and energy to be a control freak when it comes to wedding preparations. My instinct is to trust my suppliers and just let them make our day totally great! Ah I just realised that I haven’t taken a photo of my first fitting! I shall remember to whip out the camera next time.

If you’ve had your wedding gown made specially for you, do drop me a link to your wedding photos if they are floating around on internet. I would so love to check you out!
