Recently I stumbled upon Anthony and Rachel’s wedding in Melbourne on photographer Jonathan Ong’s website. Not only was their wedding a joy to look at, it was also dotted with beautiful personal touches. The one thing that captured my attention though was Rachel herself. Unlike the typical bride, she wore a loose fitting and somewhat unfussy dress alongside her turtle shell frames. Her smiles were wide and brilliant and she looked gorgeous and super at ease.
Now if you have been following me for a while you would know that I wear glasses too (view 1/2). I only occasionally flash them as they don’t tickle my fancy that much. They are thick, clunky and clumsy and I usually avoid them on ‘photoshoot days’, except when I’m on holiday and have tired eyes. I don’t feel attractive with glasses on at all. Sometimes I wonder whether I’m overly concerned with how people (strangers included) look at me, and placed unrealistic expectations on myself to uphold a certain image, whatever that may be…
I don’t know what prompted Rachel to keep her glasses on but I applaud her for her self-confidence. She didn’t look any less of a bride. In fact, she looked absolutely charming and reassured. This definitely shows what being comfortable in one’s own skin is all about.
Would you ever rock down the aisle with your glasses?
