Read and Experiment

I really miss reading good quality materials as opposed to all the fluff that I’m exposed to every day.

Going away to the country (see thisthis and this) had given us the opportunity to rest, relax and put things in a different perspective.

I purchased a kindle book Eleanor and Park, which was a part of A Beautiful Mess‘s February book club and had high expectations of reading it. I did (hooray!) and I’m feeling kinda accomplished although I’m only half way through it. Reading is such a simple thing to do but I hadn’t prioritise it in any way in the past 5-7 years and I think I had really missed out on a lot of good stuff. I really miss reading good quality materials as opposed to all the fluff that I’m exposed to every day. I want to get better at filtering the things that I allow into my world because free time is limited and too precious to waste!

On to outfit talk… there’s a couple of “firsts” here.

First #1. I had my first experience of having a clothing item tailored to what I had in mind. I selected and purchased the fabric and proceeded to have it made into a high-waisted midi skirt. I can’t say that I’m happy with the skirt or the whole experience but I’m glad that I gave that idea a go. I’ve learnt a number of lessons and I’m planning to make a post on it so if you’re thinking of going down that route, stay tuned for that!

First #2. I finally ditched the tights for socks instead with boots and I’m slowly warming up to this preppy look. Sydney’s winter is actually quite perfect for it because it rarely gets too cold to show some skin.

Happy Wednesday!

    1. I didn’t actually construct it myself but I did purchase the fabric and had my ideas conveyed across to a seamstress 🙂
