Leopard in Leggings

I realised that I’ve got an unintentional brown theme going on this week. Brown is not my favourite colour (yet) but sometimes its earthy and warm qualities just managed to send me on a wild hunt online for the perfect brown leather coin purse, envelope clutch or ankle boots.

A couple of weeks ago, Mr M showed me a fashion editorial and quizzed me on my ”location deciphering” skills but the rocky background gave it away and this one place came to mind.

These photos were taken a little more than 3 months at Llandudno Beach, a beach that has truly lived up to its name of being the ‘models’ beach’ in Cape Town. It definitely wasn’t short of attractive people sprawling all over sunbaking and relaxing. That particular day was scorching hot and the beach was experiencing low tide so we wandered off to do a little bit of exploration on our own. We navigated our way on slimy seaweed covered boulders and after what seemed like 40 days and 40 nights, we were rewarded with a large shady area, stunning view and peace. The air was significantly cooler and that was precisely what I needed to rid the ”miss grumps” that had crept up within me while we were cooking in the sun. And to my justification, I’m Asian afterall!

I’m not obsessed with leopard print but I do like to incorporate it into my outfit once in awhile to give the overall look a bit of a punch. This Cotton On dipped hem dress was packed because it was light and easy to wear. I still could not make up my mind about dipped hem dresses or skirts but I chose to experiment with this piece because the dip isn’t quite as steep as majority of the pieces available. There’s just something more flattering about this kind of cut IMHO. I paired the dress with leggings because the morning was chilly but clearly I was deceived.

These weren’t shown in the photos but by the end of the day, I had back on my trusty denim jacket and nude ballet flats (featured here and here at Muizenberg) after the weather’s cooled down.

Did I enjoy making my way to the other side of the beach? NO. I had mental images of slipping, falling and breaking something

Was I glad that I did anyway? a resounding YES.

Sometimes you just have to conquer fear to see the other side.

Till then! Happy Easter everyone just in case I don’t check back before then!
