A short trip to the country was what I needed to escape the daily grinds of city life.
The air in the Southern Highlands was cool and crisp, and tree leaves had started to turn into a lush shade of reds and purples. Everything seemed and felt a lot more relaxed which was perfect for soothing all the negative built ups within me.
I couldn’t resist donning my SOLEIL patchwork dress by Family Affairs that I had just received recently and it was such a joy to wear! The colour blocking detail and mix of prints have truly made it one of a kind. I teamed the dress with some opaque tights and some dark red leather ankle boots to fight off the country chill. Now one might think that I had turned myself into a Christmas tree by pairing blue, green and red together…. shock horror! In the contrary, I thought this colour combo worked really well together for the look that I was trying to achieve. This, is the beauty of fashion. It’s fluid and there’s a lot of room for experimentations and fun. I can only speak from experience and tell you to not hold yourself back from trying things that are ‘not you’ because something awesome might just flow out of a willingness to be open-minded.
The SOLEIL dress was a lightweight piece so I pulled on a boxy knitted jumper just to add the right amount of coziness. Bliss!
I felt really special that day, not in a superior or arrogant way. Rather, that feeling arose from the awareness that I was supporting talented people and a brand that’s so passionate about its deeds. I love that.
Do you have any favourite indie fashion labels? I’d love to know!
