Eye Like

Screen Shot 2014-01-16 at 12.14.29 amI wish I could say that I’m a beauty guru, and that tonnes of people asked me complex make up questions each day. You know that’s not the case. So why am I talking about makeup today? To be perfectly honest, I think it’s the ‘why not’ attitude that prompted me to do so. Of course watching popular youtube beauty gurus like bubzbeauty and Fleur de Force was a major motivational factor as well.

A lot of people probably couldn’t really tell but I do wear makeup on a regular basis. My routine is ultra simple and light and the main reason for that is sheer laziness and cost. I haven’t really done much research on makeup techniques as well so I’m definitely not doing most things right. However, I would like to share with you things that have been working for me thus far because I do research on products before purchasing them. I would normally limit my budget in this area so I want to know that my bucks are well spent!

#1. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly: This is a nude creamy eyeshadow that seems to last forever! This is always the first step to my eye makeup routine. I use it as a primer/base colour and it’s excellent in preparing the lids for eyeshadow. I know this sounds kinda dodgy but whenever I stuff up my mascara or eye liner, a swipe of this on the smudged areas always did it for me.

#2. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette: I use this for all informal and formal occasions. I got mine from Beauty Bay when it first came out and have not looked back since. I was a complete eyeshadow amateur  (still am) and wanted a palette with neutral colours because they’re easier to wear. I did my research on google and youtube and finally gave in after seeing all the great reviews. Naked 2 consists mostly of shimmery colours so if you’re not into glittery lids, don’t go there! I heard that Naked 3 is out, does anyone know anything about it?

#3. Estee Lauder Double Wear Zaro Smudge Liquid Eyeliner: This is the only eyeliner that does not smudge at all so far. Believe me, I had tried tonnes and tonnes of eyeliners in the hope of finding one that could tolerate my super oily eyelids. I encountered many empty promises until I chanced upon this product online. The only complaint though is the brush tip is quite hard so it takes a bit of getting use to. It’s not the cheap but I think it’s worth a try. I’ve just seen some great reviews for their double wear stay in place eye pencil. I’ve been on the hunt for a good eyeliner pencil for lazy days out. The Covergirl one that I’m currently using makes me look like the biggest panda by the end of the day. Do you have any recommendations on eyeliners that are worth trying?

#4. Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara: This isn’t too shabby on my non-existent eye lashes. The removal bit is a pain though because it tends to clump and stick to my lashes. Make sure you use a good oil-based eye makeup remover to strip off all residues. I like to use L’oreal gentle eyes and lips makeup remover or Bioderma Crealine H2O solution. Bioderma is really expensive in Australia so if you’re travelling overseas, remember to keep a lookout for it. You might score a bargain.

#5 Shu Uemura Hard Formula 09: This eyebrow pencil is simple amazing. I’ve been using it for years and am quite reluctant to try anything else. It is that good. Unlike most eye brow pencils which tend to be quite overpowering, this Shu Uemura one only releases colour pigment when it interacts with oils on your eye brows. It gives a really natural finish and I simply cannot imagine life without it!

Well, hope you find this post useful! I’m open to suggestions and would love to hear about your holy grail products!

Have an awesome, awesome weekend girls!
