OOTD: The Split

Happy V-day people! I hope you had a nice day so far regardless of whether you’re into this hoo-haa or not. I know V-day is undoubtedly over-commercialised but at least it’s a valid excuse for some kind of celebration!

Mr M and I are those odd people who jump on any kind of opportunities to celebrate each other so we decided to treat ourselves to Oscillate Wildly last Friday for a nice dinner to celebrate what he called ‘Munnentine’s Day’, which sounded absolutely silly but cute at the same time (to me at least). I’ll spare you the mush but this made up word was derived from ‘monthiversary + V-day’ in case you wonder. I’ve always wanted to re-visit this restaurant since it’s made such an impression on me a few years back. A wave of nostalgia did wash over me as I tried to recall the details on that particular night. I was really excited but at the same time quite nervous about what I was in for because the last thing I wanted was for this experience to taint my last one. To my relief, the current menu is obviously different from the one back then but the food still retained its high quality standard if not better.

Since it was a special occasion, I put myself on the ‘dress up’ mode. I was unsure about this thigh split skirt from ASOS when I first received it because it felt a little too sexy for my liking but I decided to give it a go anyway in the end. I paired it with my favourite lace tee from SABA as I wanted to tone down the ‘sexiness’ with a slightly more conservative top. I could possibly make do without the belt to give it a slightly more carefree feel but I cinched my waist in with a patent one anyway because I decided to look a little more polished instead. Coming back to maxi skirts/dresses, I always found it such a task to find the right length for my Asian stature so if I happened to encounter one that’s of the right style, length and price point, I would be happy to purchase it without too many considerations. Having said that, I’m quite excited to share with you a maxi dress I purchased in Cape Town that I absolutely adore in one of my upcoming posts so stay tuned!

These heels (from SABA as well) are my ‘style-saver’ because they go with everything! They are quite stretched and thus comfy now and my only hope is that I’d get many more wears out of them before they fall apart. Speaking of worthwhile purchases, I’ve been wearing this Charles+Keith bag non-stop for the past few weeks (also seen herehere and here) and I’m still loving it! Thanks mom for this lovely bag!

Looking forward to the weekend when I could wind down, relax and have some breathing room.

Enjoy the rest of the week people and thanks for reading!

xx

  1. Oh so funny- we’re both in the thigh high split skirts lately! I got mine from Marks & Spencer last year but never found a good solution to wear it well. I also belt it with a muscle tee and cap for a sportswear look. Hope the V day dinner was yum? 🙂

    1. I’ve been seeing caps everywhere and hope to give this trend a try soon! Not sure whether I could pull it off though haha! Yes it was very good. It’s always exciting to be able to dine at nice places. It makes me feel so blessed 🙂

Jot down your thoughts!
